Joseph Gurley has been mastering the artistry of cosmetology since 1988. After the tutelage of education courses, mentors and employment opportunities in the cosmetology field where he acquired a large client following and exposure to many multi-faceted arenas requesting his expertise; it is was a natural inclination and process to develop Byutie (pronounced Beauty). Byutie was established in 2007 and is located at 707 Twinridge Lane in Richmond, Virginia; directly off of Midlothian Turnpike and Providence Road in the Twin Ridge Office Park, surrounded by a well developed and protected community consisting of the Chesterfield Police Department, all-inclusive retirement residences and multitude of businesses; all tucked in a welcoming environment for all to commune.
The neighborhood invokes the atmosphere of harmony, wellness and solitude, which are staples of Byutie's message of overall Beauty!

The Owner of Byutie Hair Salon, Joseph Gurley is a much sought after artist with a reputation for providing
specialized and individualized services for the care, maintenance and development of his clients hair and
unparalleled artistry in hair styling and make up enhancements.
The work of Joseph affectionately known as Joe can be described as nothing short of incredible. Originating
from and educated in New York; in the Richmond Public Schools system and the Flair Beauty Institute, his
unparalleled artistry in both hairstylings’ and make up enhancements have been utilized by the world
renowned Luster Products hair care products line as one of their Platform Artists and Regional Trainers.
A believer in education and excellence and recognized for his expertise, Joe has provided training for upcoming
artists at Mr. J’s Hair in Motion in Richmond, Virginia where he taught hair cutting classes, Romell Duresseau in
New York where he did training in applying make up to enhance beauty, Luster Products in Chicago, Illinois where he provided training for new and upcoming platform artists. Joe is a Certified State Examiner for the State of Virginia Cosmetology Licensing Board and has many cosmetologist credits that are documented on the Media and Publications page.
